Sono trascorse ormai tre settimane dal tragico incidente che ha tolto la vita ai 7 ciclisti amatoriali di Lamezia Terme. Uno di questi era il papà di uno dei più giovani e capaci calciatori del Cosenza 1914: Alessandro Bernardi. A lui, giunge il messaggio Father Fedele Bisceglia, Congo. Dear Alessandro,
I write from the heart of Africa, Congo Brazzaville. Every day when I wake up my humble prayer is for the magnificent seven samples and your families.
On Christmas Eve, while in the world there is so much light, so much joy, so much consumerism my heart beats for you!
I ask you, dear, sweet boy, polite, generous and great player of Cosenza, not for Christmas wishes but to be a messenger and a Christian bear the cruel pain that makes this more heartbreaking sad Christmas for you and the families of the other samples.
Non ho avuto la fortuna di conoscere tuo padre e gli altri sfortunati fratelli.
Ho letto sulla stampa le loro doti professionistiche umane e familiari.
Come sacerdote e missionario ripeto le parole di Cristo: "Chi crede in me non morirà in eterno" ed i magnifici sette avevano una fede incrollabile e quindi vivono.
"La vita non è tolta, ma trasformata".
Dal Congo, dove miseria, fame, malattie e quanto altro la fanno da padrone ho voluto ricordarli così.
Nella clinica francescana di Brazzaville da me e da voi costruita ho dedicato il piccolo reparto di ecografia a loro, con questa scritta "Ai magnifici sette campioni di Lamezia Terme (CZ) nel giro del mondo la vostra pedalata ha fatto tappa anche in Congo, in perpetual memory "(P. Dear Alex, I think this
Franciscan act of Christian solidarity and this memory will not only alleviate the open bleeding wound in the hearts of all your families, but can be a stimulus to live in healthy sport, genuine and clear and divert young people from the current delinquency: alcohol, drugs and the like so that sow death in the world.
God enlighten your houses obscured by the cruel pain and soothe your wounds.
